Is there a way to disable the "caps lock" key?
« on: 24/02/2009 10:59:39 »
I have fat fingers and cannot quite touch type.
As a consequence I often hit the caps lock key by mistake resulting in the rest of the sentNCE BEING WRITTEN LIKE THIS.

Is there any simple (software) based way of disabling it in windows?  My favoured solution of simply physically removing it (as i have done at home) is not viable at work!

A second question is what is the *~@!ing point of it in the first place?

Oversize keyboards are available, (inch square keys), at a price ...

I spring out the caps lock key with screwdriver.  If I ever want it (and I never do) I can engage with a screwdriver.

If you tick this box in the ease of access menu (green circle) a bleep will occur when caps lock is pressed
so you can hear immediately when you have accidentally hit the caps lock, (before you have typed many capitals).

Unfortunately the duration if the bleep is not long enough to mask swearing  :)

There is a simple way, download 'rktools.exe package' and open 'remapkey.exe' this will enable you to to move keys about.
I interchanged 'capslock' and 'insert', accidentally hitting what is now insert causes no problems.
