« on: 26/02/2009 18:22:06 »
As a sheepy I enjoy all manner of watersports !!  ::)

...as does Gerty the Giraffe here :

Clearly Gerty can also fly :

But, I have yet to see Gerty swim....can she ?

I wish I knew !....It was one of the first things I thought about when I got up this morning !...please make this torment end !!

Hugs & shmishes

The last I heard, no-one had ever actually seen a giraffe swim. However, they have been found on an island so unless they can build boats or, like Gerty, fly, they must have swum there.

Aren't giraffes regarded as one of the bits of evidence for most mammalians having returned from the water after initially having evolved on land?  I seem to recall hearing something along those lines.

I imagine they can wade with their heads held periscope-like above the water.

When you have a neck that long, who needs a snorkel?

That was indeed the belief until they were found on that island. The water surrounding it is too deep for them to have waded despite their height.

However, there are also reports of giraffes having drowned.

Ya pays ya money & ya takes ya choice.

It's just 1 of those things I came across somewhere and thought "Ooh, that's interesting". It may have been a newspaper or magazine.

I luff Giraffes. Do they have rough tongues? They eat leaves off very spikey trees.
