Is this possible yet or very close to possible.
Will they be able to use your own stem cells to grow a new compatible heart for your ailing heart..?  One that will eliminate the need for rejection medications etc?

If this become possible.... how long would it take to grow said Heart and say your original heart had defects would the Ste ells produce another defective heart or a perfectly healthy heart...?

Would the defect continue on in the stem cells because of an inherited bad gene or something?

I am very curious as this is something I could use.... and wonder how far away this possibility is away  from reality?

growing stronger muscles using regular exercise has been done for quite some time, actually ever since muscles have been around. Maybe some regular exercise, gentle at first could help strengthen your heart, which is in effect a muscular pump, and if you were to use IBT to help you to capitalise on the effort you put in by accelerating the muscle development who knows what might be possible combining both regimens.

As for growing hearts from stem cells. This is how all hearts are grown in a developing baby.

I am speaking of growing one outside of my own body.. that would be compatible and  used inside of me to replace My Damaged Heart... If my arteries are clear and the heart and aorta are replaced... you would think one grown from your own stem cells would be perfect..What is the time frame?

A huge amount of research is going into this very subject. A couple of example reports:

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/134025.php

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/health/article3177646.ece

though there are loads more. Many Universities seems to have some department working on this or a related topic.

I think we are looking at 10 to 20 years though, so you need to look after yourself and not bank on it. Stem cells can be used to repair damage in situ as well though, and this may be something that becomes available sooner. Unfortunately there are a lot of scams in this area based on unsubstantiated outlandish claims.

Great articles Graham.... That is exactly what I wanted to know... I am sorry it is so far off, and I would likely be gone by that time.. BUT... it does show at least some promise of other treatments and grafts etc that could help me to live longer and more comfortably in the long run anyway, and that is something.... Ya know! Thanks for that!  The links and your post are most appreciated! *smiles*
