The viking mission to Mars had a 20 watt radio transmitter.

The RF power of a mobile phone can be 1 or 2 watts

So yes if you had a Jodrell bank sized dish* on Earth pointed at you on the moon then you could order your pizza from the moon, (Earth side of moon that is).

You would of course get your pizza for free as Domino's would not be able to deliver within an hour.

[* Without the deep dish reciever you'll need a few hundred Watts of RF power].

Apollo (lunar) mission radio specifications ...

Quote
Figure 10 lists some of the salient features of the Unified S-Band spacecraft
transponder. The TWT power amplifier has the capability to put out 20
watts
of CW power. However, there is another mode whereby the output power
can be reduced to 5 watts
. The TWT feeds either one (1) of two (2) antennas
through a switching network. As previously mentioned, the omnidirectional
antem is used from launch through transposition. Transposition is the phase
of the mission that occurs after injection into a translunar flight trajectory.

I can just picture some spotty faced little dipstick trying to deliver it on a Honda 50. Some of them have trouble finding the end of their own street let alone the Sea of Tranquillity!

As RD said you will get it free because it wont get to you within the hour..... probably wont get to you within the week, so it might be a little cold on arrival.

Order early for Christmas, today might be a good time...... "Turkey pizza with anchovy and black olives please...... Bugger, I've been cut off, 'Network busy'???"

Did you know that the Quattro Formagios were a once-powerful Florentine family during the Renaissance? They are all but forgotten now as the Medicis overthrew them and expunged all references to them - wrote them out of history.

What you should do is take your mobile up there and if you have no bars then just by one of those satelite phones. If that fails then i would recommend building a pizza resteraunt up there.

Clover and Lupin stopped laying after their moult, which is unusual but they're 5 now. We began making enquiries about getting two more at point-of-lay so they could retire ... and they started to lay again - which was nice.
