If your blog is always listed on the same page.
{also, to obtain below if you do not have access to the server, use "view page source" on your browser menu}
You really only need to comprehend Search Engine Optimisation(SEO).
It requires a number of things in order of importance.
Supply the fully qualified URL to the search engine.
e.g.   http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl
Meta Keywords list {supplied if required when submitting a page/URL}
Short description {supplied if required when submitting a page/URL}
Meat Phrases list {supplied if required when submitting a page/URL}
Page Title {supplied if required when submitting a page/URL}

I added a ping list to my wordpress blog, but everytime my page loaded it seemed to slow down the blog.
I have started using <a href=" newbielink:http://www.blogbuzzer.com [nonactive]">BlogBuzzer.com<a/> which automatically pings my blog to all of the directories.
