Full up on potatoes
« on: 27/06/2005 11:55:50 »
I've had a feeling about this for a while so I decided to put it to the test. I've noticed that for any given weight of potatoes I always feel more full up, & full up for longer, if I roast them rather than have them as chips. I've tried it by carefully weighing the potatoes & not eating anything else with them. On almost every occasion this has turned out to be the case.
Can anyone suggest why this may be so. Could it be something to do with frying maybe reducing the carbohydrate content or something similar?

which one has the higher fat content I wonder - I think fat content has a lot to do with hoew full you feel... I am not sure if the larger surface area of the chips will make up for the slower cooking of the roast potatos..

How are you determining fullness?  How full you feel mentally? No desire to eat further? Discomfort/Pressure/Bloat in your stomach?

This might have an effect on the reason, as I think fat content in your bloodstream has something to do with how full you feel.

Narcisse - What I mean is that for any given weight of potatoes I feel as if I've eaten more if they're roasted rather than fried.

Surely, then, chips would make me feel more bloated
