D Barbor  asked the Naked Scientists:

Hi there. I have two jacaranda tree that are now about 10  years old and I originally planted them in the pot that it came in, now they are very high about 30 feet tall. They give us flowers and we love it.

My question is that there are thousands of bots and it seems like all year around, At fall they drop these twigs thousands of them.  I want to know if WE have male jacaranda? and that is why they have so many bots...

thank you, Diana

(I am calling  the bot which to me are these cup shape shells with seeds inside them.)

What do you think?

Yes JnA, these trees are monoecious. If you only had the one tree, Diana, it would still flower.
