That's odd. I thought the word "is" was missing.
as in "I am is the shortest complete sentence in the English language."

Maybe :-\, omid not sure, sorry :-X

The classic answer is a navel but I think an AOL CD is a better reply.

There was a wise king who had two sons. He wanted to make sure his two sons would not fight over his fortune when he was gone. What did the king write in his will to ensure his two sons would split up his fortune fairly?  ;) ;) ;)

That the inheritence was to be split equally and if either one contested it let him have 1 dollar or pence and go on his way with the rest of the fortune to be given to the one who did not make a fuss,

That one son divides the estate but the other son gets to choose which half to keep? That's how my Mum used to get me and my brother to share sweets fairly.

There are six men and they each have six baskets. Each basket has six cats inside and each cat has six kittens. Assuming all are whole and healthy, how many legs are there? ;)

Cat legs = 6048
Man legs = 12

Total number of legs =6060

I haven't included the legs of the RSPCA inspector who will be arriving shortly: (42 cats in each basket).

Wait, why is my calculation wrong?

42 (cats and kittens per basket)
 x6 baskets
 x6 men
 x4 legs (per feline)

=  6048 cat (and kitten) legs.     (I think)

... no need to multiply by 6 twice.

Yes there is ...

There are six men and they each have six baskets

Each of the six men is carrying six baskets with 42 overcrowded felines in each basket.
i.e. not one basket per man, it's six baskets per man.
