"You are never dedicated to something you have complete confidence in. No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. They know is going to rise tomorrow. When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths or any other kinds of dogmas or goals, it's always because these dogmas or goals are in doubt."

Robert M. Pirsig Zen in the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

My son is reading that book as we speak!!!

My grandma unstiched all of her s and our old clothes to reuse the fabrics as well as the thread she sewed the new clothes with. She rerolled the unstitched threads back onto  the old wooden spools she had saved after using that thread... recycle reuse and reduce clear back then.. never ending supply of reuses she saved everything.. twist ties, paper clips rubber bands, milk jars, tv dinner aluminum trays, string ribbon bows, aluminum foil, pull tabs and bottle caps from beer and sodas! Everything!

The Never-ending story is the most blatant case of false advertising...

Famous Misquotations

"Elementary, my dear Watson" - Sherlock Holmes
This phrase was never uttered by the character in any of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's written works. Though "Elementary," and "...my dear Watson." both do appear near the beginning of The Crooked Man (1893), it is the "...my dear Watson" that appears first, and "Elementary" is the succinct reply to Watson's exclamation a few lines of dialogue later. This is the closest these four immortal words ever appear together in the canon.
The association of this quote with the Sherlock Holmes character likely comes from the closing lines of the 1929 film The Return of Sherlock Holmes.

"Play it again, Sam" - Ingrid Bergman (Casablanca)
Actual quote: "Play it Sam, for old times' sake, play 'As Time Goes By'."

"When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it's longer than any hour. That's relativity." - Albert Einstein
As "quoted" by Steve Mirsky Scientific American (September 2002). Vol. 287, Iss. 3; pg. 102. This should hardly be taken as an authentication of the statement as actually Einstein's, as this is from a satirical piece, and Mirsky cites the "original source" as being a fictitious magazine.

"The end justifies the means" - Machiavelli
Attributed to the political theorist Niccolo Machiavelli's work The Prince. The line is actually from a book in which a fictional Machiavelli is a character.

YOU WOULD HAVE LIKED HER...SHE WAS AN INTERESTING UNUSUAL LADY! SHE WAS ALSO BEAUTIFUL!

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts, and  we are never ever the same".
