Does this forum automatically re-size images to fit the size limit, or do you have to re-size them yourself? In the case of the latter, what's the quickest way to make images of approx 1.3 or 1.4MB much smaller?

Before you say 'You can set your camera to take lower-resolution shots, you know', I would prefer to keep them hi-res at source.

(All this to show you some silly postbox pictures...)

I just use a program like Fastone Image Viewer to resize the image once I've loaded it onto the PC  http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm ........it's free and really good..

Thanks, but I use a Mac. That program seems to be PC only.

GIMP is multi-platform (and free) ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP

It is slow to load but offers comprehensive range of image manipulation effects, (including downsizing Jpegs).

BTW the maximum size for posting an image here is 128Kb, (30 - 60Kb is usually sufficient).

I looked exactly like that when I woke up this morning.
