I'm 43 you know! Britain won the world cup when I was born and "These boots were made for walking" was number 1 in the UK charts.

Peppermints and Incense by Strawberry Alarm Clock was #1 on the US charts the week of my birth.

I just took a look at the best sellers when I was hatched...... Would you believe 'Unforgettable' by Nat King Cole.

Looks like the UK No. 1 for me was 'Puttin' On The Style/Gamblin' Man' by Lonnie Donegan & His Skiffle Group.

KarenW:  Try:

http://www.ukpopcharts.co.uk/uk_number_1s.htm

Looks like it was 'Apache' by the Shadows

Long John Baldry - 'Let The Heartaches Begin' was #1 on the UK charts.  If it wasn't the fact that "Hello, Goodbye" was #1 the next week I'd seriously question UK tastes.  Long John Baldry is almost Bill Shatner awful.

Gasp!!! - you don't remember Apache?  I'm sure you'd recognise it if you heard it (it was a guitar based instrumental - no singing)

...and AllenG: Long John Baldry is nowhere near as bad as William Shatner.  Fair enough if you didn't like his songs, but at least LJB could actually sing.
