Do All Fish Have Scales & Why Are They Slimey ?
« on: 24/07/2009 21:02:09 »
Dearest Peeps Of Klever IQability,

As a sheepy I off course luff to swim , There's nothing more I like to do than don my gear and get in some serious watersports !

Alas, I am not a fish though !..but I am rather buoyant !

Check out John & Jemima, Stouty & Sheila:

Fishies Enjoying 'Wet Fun' Earlier Today

They're a couple of pairs who know each other very well !! Nudge Nudge wink wink say no more !!

They're slippery characters though, difficult to grab hold of....Could it be because of the slime ?..what is the slime ? is one fish's slimy slippery stuff the same as another fisheys slimy stuff ?..and why the scales ?....and do all fishies have scales ? If a fishey gets careless and loses a scale, does it grow back ? ...are fish scales like finger nails ?

As a firm believer in empirical study I asked an old lady who had just bought some fish fingers....she responded by saying that the no 73 bus would be along soon !!..so..no luck there....and she had purple hair....and smelled of wee !! Though I welcomed her answer Ijust don't think she really helped me !

can ewe help ?

hugs & shmishes

mwah mwah mwah !!

Quote
Slime is secreted from cells in the very outside layer of the skin. In some cases, the placement of these slime-producing cells determines what species of fish it is. The cells produce what is called a glyco-protein, which is then mixed with the water making the slimy mucus

No, the catfish is one example of one that does not have scales.

They decide which weigh they want to go and then point themselves in that direction.

This must be the reason that the 'old worlde sweet shop' owned by a Sharky The shark went out of business. Every time I went in there to get a quarter lb of cola cubes he'd just guestimate the amount and give far too much away and just charge me for a quarter lb !..I did wonder why he never attempted to weigh the correct amount !...
