A cat has 32 muscles in each ear.
Cats have over 100 vocal sounds, while dogs have only about 10.
On average people fear spiders more than they do death.
You are more likely to be killed by a champagne cork than by a poisonous spider.
A group of frogs is called an army.
A group of rhinos is called a crash
A group of kangaroos is called a mob.
A group of whales is called a pod.
A group of geese is called a gaggle.
A group of ravens is called a murder.
A group of officers is called a mess.
A group of larks is called an exaltation.
A group of owls is called a parliament.
A group of doves is called a salvation.
The starfish is the only animal that can turn its stomach inside out.
Starfish don't have brains and neither do jellyfish.
A pregnant goldfish is called a twit.
A goldfish has a memory span of 3 seconds.
Tigers have striped skin, not just striped fur.
A ducks quack doesn’t echo and no one knows why.
The milk of a hippo is bright pink.
Donald Duck's middle name is Fauntleroy.
When a giraffe's baby is born it falls from a height of six feet, normally without being hurt.
An Ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain.
The muzzle of a lion is like a fingerprint - no two lions have the same pattern of whiskers

A skein.
Is there a collective noun for collective nouns?

Incidentally, these two
"A goldfish has a memory span of 3 seconds.

A ducks quack doesn’t echo and no one knows why."
are myths even if you remember the apostrophe in duck's.

Well I do vaguely recall hearing a safe of ducks echoing all over the place the other day...

----
Maybe a collection of collective nouns

Here's a nice fact for you.  Three-toed sloths turn green throughout their lives, due to algae growing in their fur (they live in quite humid environments).  This is actually an advantage for them, as it offers them better camouflage.

Also, Lorises have a gland in their elbows that releases a toxin - they mix this with their saliva for protection.

I've never seen any ants in my local, I don't think they can reach the bar.

The New Zealand Wood Pigeon (known as the Kereru) is well known for getting drunk from over-ripe berries fermenting in their gizzards and then flying into windows or walking across lawns drunk.

During copulation, a female fox prevents the male fox from withdrawing his penis, sometimes for hours. (No, I'm not making this up!)

I have just finished training as a docent for our city Zoo. I was doing some research on our perenties

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cjna/5138896794/in/set-72157602494518336/

and I got to reading about komodo dragons..

Komodos don't have a diaphragm and so have to use gravity to eat their larger prey... if they are in a hurry they will, apparently, pick up the prey and ram themselves into something to force it down...

and perenties have vestiges of poisons glands as well!
