What happens when you turn 65 years old?

Not much. Your sister calls to wish you a happy birthday as she is running errands, Neil sends a Happy Birdsday email and you sit at home working on a project that the client should have sold 5 years ago.

Other than that - you are now officially OLD!

I would be if I had some money to spend. It all goes for liniment and hemorrhoid cream.

In Belgium, you'd stop paying for public transportation when you reach 65 years old.
I believe this to be a very good thing, since old people are just crazy on the road in their cars :D

At 65, here in the UK, comes the realisation that some thieving git by the name of Gordon Brown has had his dirty, grasping mits in your pension pot and you can now look forward to freezing in the winter, visiting the local soup kitchen for sustenance, having your home sold to pay for any care you may need and the shirt swiped off of your back for good measure.

Ah the joys of retirement.

Thank all of you - I am going to now call the cemetery and make sure my grave will be available soon.

And since I am in the US, Reagan and the Bush's and the republicans have already seen to it that the crap Gordon has taken from you Brits has already gone - from http://zfacts.com/p/318.html

Oh, I need to get some MORE LINIMENT delivered, too!

Here's a little birthday present for you JimBob, you might find satirist Andy Parsons's comments on the US presidential elections a bit of a chuckle.

Many years ago I worked in an office in London on a fairly busy main street. The guy in charge of the drawing office was near retirement and he spent quite a bit of time looking out the windows at good looking young women (with an occasional comment). Someone said to him (not unpleasantly) "Bob, you're a dirty old man" to which he replied, "Not old, John. Not old".

Jim, congrats on your birthday look like continuing until your next one. As I have only just spotted this, happy birthday from whenever it was. And as it's near new year, "Lang may yer lum reek".
