Does anybody know about einsteins last work?
« on: 22/12/2009 15:29:29 »
After Einstein's well known relativity papers, he started working on a unified field theory. His goal was a simple theory that would unify gravity and electromagnetism, and to "disprove" quantum mechanics probability conclusions. Before he died he released a paper. The paper was called Zur einheitlichen feldtheorie, which translates into, A coherent view of electromagnetic field theory. The press hailed it at first as a mega-theory to everything. However it was met with criticism, and was eventually discarded. After a year of arguing, even Einstein admitted that it was "probably the wrong approach".

I for one, would love to find out, where einstein went wrong. See what he thought was the right approach, and the supposed parts of relativity that he thought was in error. If anybody knows anything about this I'd love to hear it. Or if anybody could find a good english translated link. My google efforts haven't turned up anything that I can use.

There's a nice online archive of Einstein's work located here: www.alberteinstein.info

The paper you're looking for appears to be this one:
http://www.alberteinstein.info/db/ViewDetails.do?DocumentID=34468
They don't have it digitized yet, however.

It might be worth poking around his last papers and his notebooks, many of which are digitized on the site.

I'm not sure there even is an english version of the paper, since it wasn't accepted. But thanks for the links.
