Bicyle, skateboard, rollerblades?
« on: 17/01/2010 04:24:05 »
Hello everybody,

I was wondering if you could help me with a little question I have.
Is it easier to jump a tall sidewalk with a bicycle, a skateboard or with rollerblades?

Also, could you show me a few links to where I could check the physics involved here?

I'm sorry for the dumb question, but I'm kinda stumped here...

Thank you for your patience.

If you look at people competing in free jumping it seems that you can jump around two meters straight up?
And the height you make will be less the more mass you add to your jump, meaning that your jump should become lower if you weight more. And 'spring systems' like f.ex your bicycle's decks, or any other 'springs' on it can't expand the energy you deliver to the system.

So go for the lightest wheels you can get.

The only thing that might change it is the velocity.
And there a really good bike might do the trick.
So yes, a bike might extend it.

Try a Suzuki RF 900 0-100 km in 2.3 s if I remember right.
That should give you a good jump, If you can redirect its force upwards :)

easiest?

It's all about balance, if you're good you're good?
I would break my leg any which way.

But I would take the bike doing it :)

I wanna say that nothing can expand the energy u deliver (only if u got some engine there),the only energy there is what u deliver. ...it is all about power which u can get out of your muscules u can be massive if that brings u much power, and it is about style which u have or not and any kinda knowlege of physics is not gonna help u
