Yes! I think you should immediately invest your entire life savings in it - as long as you plan to live for at least another 50 years ;D

Seriously, there is so much investment in current technology, it's going to take at least a guaranteed order of magnitude improvement in performance within a few years to get any serious investment in a new technology.

If we really need more performance, we might be better to invest in better software tools. Moore's Law is great, but Geezer's Law states that:

In any system, the efficiency with which software utilizes hardware resources is inversely proportional to Moore's Law.

(If you don't see any more posts from me after this, you'll know the admins have "done me in".)


Ah ha! They must not have noticed my post yet, so I'll continue.

Don't mention it to anyone, but we've already got far more computation capability and storage capacity than we can possibly ever use. I'm willing to bet that 99.9% of the computers on the planet spend 99.9% of their time doing nothing useful.
