Soap as a propellant ?

As a firm believer in empirical study I will indeed conduct my own experimentwith regard to the following.

 I once heard (many many moons ago) that if you made a paper boat and stuck a little piece of soap on a stick or something and stuck it out the back of the boat that it would indeed make boaty move with boaty joy !

Is this a possibility ?..

Thats a rather crude but very clean form of propulsion.

Maybe you should sell your idea.:D
