Why!
« on: 14/12/2005 02:09:29 »
WHY! Do air conditioner units in cars always require recharging with gas, while household fridges which are basically the same thing never do.

Is it just another way for motor vehicle  manufacturers to get there hands on our money by building leaky systems

Clearly they should not require recharging but the enviroment of a domestic refrigerator is much more benign that that of a car.

A fridge sits still in an almost constant temeperature environment.  A car air conditioner suffers intense vibration from the engine and operates in a temperature range from zero to 40 degrees c. this puts orders of magnitiude more difficulty in achieving reliability.
