Jort Bloem  asked the Naked Scientists:

Hi Naked Scientists,

I heard on one of your shows that a lower air pressure causes water to
boil at lower temperatures. Does this mean you could stick your
clothes in a vacuum chamber, they would dry out instantly? Why is this
not used instead of dryers? A search shows that at 3% of normal air
pressure, boiling point is about room temperature.

Jort (pronounced "Yort"), listening to the podcast from New Zealand,
almost exactly on the opposite side of the world from you.

Please feel free to use this question on your show. Please!

What do you think?
