I suppose it depends in which country you are in when you ask the question, go to any country and ask who invented radio, radar, gas turbines, computers, TV, cars, aircraft etc and they will always name the native of that country that actually did it.

Sadly, he did not.  However, I believe the esteemed physicist Dr. Evil first proposed the concept of combining C. carcharias with the laser.  Unfortunately, due to practical considerations, this attempt had to be abandoned.1

Yes. An attaboy to JP. It was Dr. Evil, although I seem to remember he cheated by using a time machine. This raises an interesting philosophical question that I have not the slightest intention of pursuing.
