Hi Dr Chris,

Please could you answer my questions for me and if your not sure that you can answer the questions for me could you please tell me who would be able to answer the questions for me.

Thank you!!

My questions are as follows:-

If I were to dig a hole in a field and put a plastic sandwich bag in that hole without covering it over with soil, how long would it take to decompose and what gases and chemicals would it produce?

Also, would these gases and chemicals harm the surrounding soil of the sandwich bag and if so what gases and chemicals would be harming the soil?

If i were to dig a hole in a field and put a sandwich bag in the hole and then cover the hole over with soil(so that now the sandwich bag is covered over with soil)how long would the sandwich bag take to decompose and what gases and chemicals  would be produced?

Also, would these gases and chemicals harm the surrounding soil in anyway and if so what gases and chemicals would be harming the soil?

Thankyou!

Aaron
