Since the CRT monitor is becoming more extinct and LCD is the razors edge, allot of the harmful rays have been reduced to just electromagnetic emissions from the power supply and the comuter, that are so little that no mandatory warning label on the computer has been issued so far.

It is like reading a book that will put you to sleep, the phenomena of concentrating and focusing in on a near sighted plain. Color background colors have some affect. The worst that might happen so far is maybe like watching to much TV you become a couch potato. Some might develop new social skills of the virtual world and lose other social skills of the real world.
Like anything to much of one thing is not always the best way.

LCDs often emit a bit of UV due to the backlighting (as do most modern compact fluorescent room lights) unless your display uses LED backlighting, but other than that unless you're extremely paranoid there's no significant emissions that are thought to be worrisome.
