Do String Vests Actually Work ?..How ?
« on: 09/07/2010 14:06:51 »
Dear String-Theory-Vestologists,

As a sheepy I of course do not wear string vests..in fact I have never worn vests of any type……

Take a look at this bloke…..

A Bloke For Ewe To Take A Look At

Notice how string-vesty he is ?

One thing I notice is that it’s filled with holes and so I presume/assume (which one is it?) that he is wearing the vest to keep warm eh ?

Well, how does that work then ?..how does a garment filled with big holes keep ewe warm ?..what’s the science behind string-vestology ?

Does a String Vest keep ewe just as warm as a vest with no holes ?

Whajafink ?

If ewe can string more than a few words together with no holes in your answer then I would have a vested interest in hearing your garment..I meant comment !!

It doesn't keep you warm if you wear it with nothing on top. It just makes you look like a slob or a member of village people. In order to keep you all tucky, you need to put clothes over it. This will then trap air in the holes of the vest and air is an insulator (hence having a cavity wall or double glazing. So Neil, a string vest is double glazing for your chest.
I here that if you move one of the strings at the back of the vest it has an effect on one of the strings on the front!!!! Thus ends my string vest theory.

Is this an example of The Buterfly effect in action ?

In engineering terms, and if the vest was hanging freely, then if you moved one of the string links at the front it would result in other links moving, and because the links are two-dimensional you'll get movement in two planes.  This is because the cotton the vest is made out of doesn't stretch much, so when you move one link, other links have to move to accommodate for it, or snap.

Thank Ewe LeeE, so in this case, it may not be an example of the Butterfly effect because here we can clearly define the correlation of movement between one link and another.....
