Why sour food causes us to have a diarrhea?
« on: 13/01/2006 18:52:07 »
Whenever I eat an abundance of tamarind or lemons or other sour fruits,I often suffer from disordered diarrhea. Why this happens?
Does it have someting to do with the interference from a low pH of sour food to digestive enzymes?

well most fruit contains the sugar fructose and if you get an excessive dose of this sugar(any sugar by the way) you get diarrhea.

Do you have too much acid in your stomach.

I suspect this is a personal thing.  I know people who are quite happy to eat lemons till the cows come home, but I suspect they have a need for the extra acid.
