If you mean the purification of ammonium nitrate from a high nitrogen containing fertiliser, i read the following somewhere..

First take a fairly large pan and pour several pounds of fertilizer in it. Pour enough methanol to cover the fertilizer. Stir it until you can no longer dissolve any more of the fertilizer. Next, set another pan on some dry ice. Get the pan extremely cold then pour the dissolved fertilizer into it leaving the undissolved particles in the first pan. The dry ice will cause the ammonium nitrate to precipitate into crystals. When no more crystals are formed, strain them out with a paper towel and allow them to dry. Store it in a tightly closed container.

Now i dont have a clue where i would get dry ice from! so..

Ive also read somewhere that dissolving it in water, filtering out the fire depressants and evaporatimng the remaining liquid should leave you with a purer form of ammonium nitrate.

BUT, non of this information has not been obtained from reliable sources so i would also very much appreciate this clearing up too..

Thought id have a quick browse, and i found a company in the UK who sell NO2 quite cheaply- newbielink:https://www.creamright.co.uk/ [nonactive]

Thanx..

However i do like to feel the satisfaction of producing it myself so if anyone does know, let us know..
