Nerves and herpes
« on: 09/02/2006 08:43:14 »
Since the herpes virus travels through the same nerves to produce an outbreak on the same part of the skin, wouldn't it be possible to stop all outbreaks by removing those nerve endings or removing all the skin implied on the outbreaks?

I know that for oral herpes that could mean face desfiguration, or in genital herpes it could mean removing parts of the genitals (OUCH!). But what about people with herpes in other regions of the body? like in the belly or a limb...

But wouldn't that make the treatment more severe than the symptoms?

Look prevention is better than cure , wear a condom or if you can't afford a condom cut the corner off a plastic bag

Are you saying that performing these permanent scaring routines will cure the Herpes...or just relieve the symptoms ? ....I'm just wondering, what is the average frequency that the varieties of herpes erupt at ?

Disfiguring a patient is so final that there must be another way.

Men are the same as women.... just inside out !!

"" How is post-herpetic neuralgia treated?
Because the virus is no longer present after the blisters dry up, the antiviral drugs used to treat shingles are not useful in patients with post-herpetic neuralgia.

There is no cure for PHN. Rather, treatment focuses on relieving pain. The most commonly prescribed medications are strong pain relievers containing opioids, antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and a newly approved topical lidocaine patch. Most PHN patients have meaningful pain relief from one or a combination of these drugs.""
