I love the "my posts" button...
« on: 12/11/2010 07:53:56 »
Thanks Chris for your answer to my electrolyte question and for welcoming me back.  Had a reply ready to post back then and lost my power supply.  I love the "My Posts" button [which is at the top of the screen and generates a list of all of the posts to which you have contributed recently - ed].

I lost my Dad a little over 2 years ago, and it devastated me.  I'm coming around though, and hope to spend more time in the forum again.

Thank you Karen W.  I appreciate kind thoughts, prayers and empathies.  It makes a difference.

I struggle to understand how some of my siblings seemed to care about nothing more than the dispensation of proceeds from Dad's estate.  That behaviour just adds to the heartbreak.

Not knowing your siblings, I don't know whether this is relevant, but different people do deal with grief in very different ways... some people would much rather cope with strong emotions (grief, or anger) by doing something totally practical and letting their thought processes gradually work round to dealing with the thing they are struggling to cope with in the background. I think an awful lot of (sometimes irrevocable) family fallings out happen because, as it were, "dealing with the practical stuff" - cleaning the house, taking things to the charity shop, closing down the bank accounts, finding the best estate agent - is exactly the sort of practical task that someone like me would fall on as a profound relief from the mental hamster-wheel of misery that goes with a significant bereavement.

I understand and have been in your shoes and it is a sad situation...

I keep refocusing my attention on the good people and things in life, until my brain is programmed to automatically go there.
