Henbane & Atropine

Ok, maybe everyone else knew this before

but i never did, and
those cartoons of witches on brooms are just too intriguing!

im just gonna type exactly what im reading

Those self-proclaimed witches of the Middle Ages used henbane and atropine from nightshade during some of their suspect rituals. They used sticks to apply atropine solutions to their body. By doing so, they induced sensations of weightlessness. During their atropine-induced sprees, they quite mistakenly believed that they were flying off to rendezvous with demons. Hence those Halloween cartoons of witches flying hither and yon on their broomsticks.
