Is the truth stranger than fiction?

As I learn a little more about scientific discoveries and the application of science, it strikes me that the scientific evidence frequently turns out to be more bizarre and fantastic than many of us would have imagined, or is it just me?

dunno, the evidence is normally quite mundane and its the interpretation / cause thats bizare?
except of course when the evidence is bizare and the cause / interpretation is mundane...
