Sushil Chaudhary asked the Naked Scientists:

When we ache our skin becomes white. Why?

What do you think?

I'm guessing it has something to do with blood flow. Other than that, I'm not sure.

If a sudden distressing event caused the "ache", say being physically assaulted or a minor road accident,
then that event could also cause release of adrenalin which causes vasoconstriction, which could cause pale skin.
