Telepathy:
===========
The concept of telepathy has arguably been a rather controversial topic of discussion this past century.
Many are of the view that telepathy is just a figment of our imagination and is not real.

Now after a series of mind journeys I have come to conclude that telepathy is highly possible but rare to detect and occur.

Factors that affect the occurence of telepathy
===============================================
1. the probability of synchronisation of brain waves is very low
2. The absorbent property of the cranium reduces brain wave leakage

The probability of brain wave synchronisation is low
====================================================
The reason being that the brain activities of any two people at any given time is different.
The various activities influence the frequencies generated in the brain.
Now for two brains to synchronise effectively, they have to be generating the same frequencies at any given time.
But if we consider the brain frequencies to be a function of brain activity then synchronisation becomes rare. Not forgetting that brain frequencies are also changing with time. Thus, also a function of time.
This situation is analogous to a radio transmitter changing its frequency of transmission at any given time; reducing
the chances of a receiver to access the station.

The absorbent property of the cranium reduces brain wave leakage
================================================================
Brain waves are essentially weak electromagnetic radiations that emanate from the brain due to its electrical
activities. Unfortunately, the dense Cranium absorbs just about every bit of it. And even, if there is a resulting leakage the signals
can't travel very far because matter will absorb all of it.

No, it hasn't been controversial at all. I suspect that's because nobody has ever demonstrated that it's any more than an imaginary concept.  ::)

I agree
True telepathy doesn't exist.

There are sub-conscious perceptions.  For example, if someone walks up behind you...  eventually you might sense their presence.  Or, if you are riding on a subway, you might glance up and see someone staring at you.  Some of these might be picking up cues such as breathing, or attributing a connection to a routine scanning of your environment.

There are, of course, the frauds.  Those people who deliberately play mind-tricks, either with a shill, or by using common cues and observing a person's response to make up a believable story.

There may also be a positive bias in people's perceptions of anecdotes.
For example, if two grieving parents after an accident or abduction claim their child is alive.
The one that found the child is actually dead would be attributed to an unfounded belief/hope.
The one that found the child was actually alive would be attributed to a true "connection".
The millions of tragedies get largely forgotten.
The few miracles get global coverage, blogs, and repeatedly retold.

but not via "psychic" powers ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychic_staring_effect

'Mind journeys' are good, but you need to check them. It's easy to go on mind journeys to places that don't include reality; dead easy to fool yourself.

That's what science is for.
