I believe so. I dont think a dead virus would do much :-)

No, a virus is merely a sack of genetic information (DNA or RNA) that gets inserted into your own cells dna, and your own cell then replicates it. It can't reproduce by itself, doesn't eat, doesn't respire.

We seek to reproduce. A virus just floats around until it gets reproduced.
