What is the ring around the sun in the sky. (17.27 gmt)
I have images of it but they are too big to attach them to my question. there is also a circle the looks like a rainbow but its only a circle in the sky. Please explain what it could be. Thanks

It sounds like it's probably a halo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_(optical_phenomenon)#Circular_halo

This is caused by ice crystals up in the atmosphere bending and reflecting light in the right way so that it looks like there's a circular halo around the sun.
