Scientists make 'bionic' muscles

Scientists make 'bionic' muscles

BBC News
3/18/06
Scientists have developed artificial, super-strength muscles which are powered by alcohol and hydrogen.
And they could eventually be used to make more advanced prosthetic limbs, say researchers at University of Texas.

Writing in Science, they say these artificial muscles are 100 times more powerful than the body's own.

They said they could even be used in "exoskeletons" to give superhuman strength to certain professions such as fire-fighters, soldiers and astronauts.

What part of your body would you enhance with this?

In all seriousness, that has some really truly amazing implications. They have been working on these things for years.
Remember, The six Million dollar man? The bionic woman? "We have the technology we know the Odds, We can make a man better then before!" I remember the opening line to the show.  I watched a documentry some years back when they were really working on this sort of thing and I am amazed what has come around in terms of true bionics! Simply amazing.

I would have it enhance my ears.  Screw ear muffles, I'll just tuck my ears in when things get too loud or if I don't want to hear things.  Plus I would be able to flap it like a hummingbird when it gets too hot.

Perhaps if you flapped fast enough you could take off. But then again you woulde have to flap so fast you might blow your head off. I wonder how fast you would have to flap your ears to take off?

I've worked it out, taking into considertaion variables like weight, size of ears, angle of flapping, altitude when you start flapping, hope, and a sense of humour........ I calculate that you would need to flap your ears at about 10,000 flaps a second.

Glad I could help.
