Hello,

For some time now I have try to grow strains of the thermophile Geobacterium thermoglucosidans in minimal media without yeast. I have try to skip on any kind of carbon source that proliferate the bug so that I can assess specific carbohydrates (Cellobiose, Glucose, etc...) utilization. The real challenge is to make the cultures grow relatively fast, within a 24hr period and have this media support growth only when the desired carbon source is added. I have review several references but all formulation listed have yeast extract or other components that support growth in the absence of my desire carbon source. Is this even possible? Any ideas out there?
