everybody wants to know: are UFOs real?
« on: 09/05/2006 19:42:08 »
the question is unanswered, and people are making claims all over the world.  from ancient times, to Columbus (he actually reported seeing one in his journal) and on to modern times.  one reason it cannot all be some joke played by teenagers, is 1)on a bomber training flight over the gulf of mexico, the radar reported a blip moving at 4200 knotts, a speed we cannot do easily. 2)the objects made strange manuevers, like slowing down instantly, making 90 degree turns without slowing down, and speeding up very quickly.  We have no way of doing those kinds of things, because the inertia and g-forces would rip us easily apart.  the aliens not being affected would indicate that they are much farther ahead of us in technology.  unless, of course, the government is holding out on us.

E=MC2... m=deg/360 X C... C= PiD

therefore E=deg/360 X 2(PiD)

All radar tells you is what the radio signals are doing.  Making radio images jump through all sorts of hoops is easy, that does not mean that there really is a flying object that does that.

Although the military are more than capable of suppressing even the most innocuous of reports, it only has very limited capabilities to suppress raw evidence.  There are plenty of astronomers, and other observers, who are outside of military control.  True, there have also been plenty of anecdotal reported sightings, but few of them by qualified persons, and fewer yet form any adequate pattern from which to draw meaningful conclusions.  There is certainly at least as much evidence for ghosts, the Loch Ness monster, and much else, as there is for extraterrestrial sentient beings arriving by UFO.

I use the size of the universe to answer that question.  The Universe is so amazingly huge that I don't see how they would ever find us.

Let's use an example to illustrate this.

Imagine someone takes a grain of sand and engraves you name on it with a very fine laser.  They then take this grain of sand and drop it at random somewhere in the Sahara desert.  It's now your task to go and find it.  Let's say they even put a super small radio transmitter in the grain of sand to help you find it.  The prob is that the signal is so weak that you need to get your detector within an inch of it to pick up the signal.

What do you think the odds are of you finding “your” grain of sand?

Now take that example and multiply the scale by a billion. Then multiply that by another billion.  Do that about 10 or 15 times and you are still not even close to seeing how tiny the Earth is in relation to the Universe.

So I say UFO's are not real simply because I don't see how they would ever find us in the first place.

(And like the previous poster stated, radar can show crazy things if out of tune or not used correctly or even under odd weather conditions.  While this isn't proof that it wasn't tracking a UFO, it's a much more plausible explanation for the strange readings.)

If aliens even had the technology to defy gravity and inertia, we could easily assume that they also have the technology to detect us accurately, especially with the help of our microwave signals that they may just of intercepted.

That may be true, but the erratic thing on the radar would be unlikely to be moving in a straight line, or stay in the right area for it to be acting that way. (It also described how five smaller blips gathered at a larger blip, presumably the mother ship)

edit: typo

E=MC2... m=deg/360 X C... C= PiD

therefore E=deg/360 X 2(PiD)

I would not assume that aliens had technology to defy gravity and inertia.  In fact, based on the nature of the Universe as we currently understand it, I would assume that they don't have that kind of technology.

The microwave signals you talk about would be the radio signal in my example.  The microwave transmissions from our planet only extend out about 60 light years or so.  Compared to the scale of just our own galaxy that would be like the grain of sand with a 1 inch transmission range.  So while it does increase the chance of aliens detecting us, it's only by an extremely small amount.

why would they want to find us tho?, the universe is so huge, its undeniable that there is other life out there, for all we know, there could be billions of other races that already have discoverd each other and have intergalatic wars and partys

Remarkable. Undoubtedly the queerest sighting on record.
