Lesbianism different from male homosexuality
Published: 10th May 2006 12:41 CET

Lesbian women react differently from both heterosexual women and men when they are exposed to female hormones, according to new Swedish research.

A study carried out at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences showed that gay women’s response to female hormones was somewhat similar to that of straight men.

What is the world coming too ,you would think they would have better things to spend their money on wouldnt you.

Neil there is no real point to this research because all they are doing is telling us something we already knew .

I mean its obvious aint it. Lesbian sex is fun to watch, Homosexual sex ain't. Complete waste of money :D

There is a gene called "fruitless" that has been the subject of much study in the Drosophila behavioral genetics world (imagine me, quoting the fly people again) lately.

It has two spliceoforms a male version and a female version.  It was found several years ago that is the female version is expressed in male flies they court other males (hence the name of the gene..... fruitless efforts).  If you google a little bit you can even find some funny videos of male flies following eachother in a big single file line, or sometimes even in a big circle.
More recently the converse phenomenon (females expressing the male spliceoform court other females) has been found to be true.  While it is most likely that sexuality in humans is much too complex to be determined by a single gene (or even by geneS alone) it is interesting, that this one genes in fles can govern the sexual prefferences of BOTH sexes in flies.

Are YOUR mice nude? ;)
