Can Anyone Help me Identify this rock?

Hello, Iam a new member here, I was wondering if anyone can help me identify this rock.. I found it in my grandfathers barn as little girl,..I live in southern California, in the Los Angles area.
This rock has lavender,dark purple,reddish orange,,white, and Transparent kinda all over. it may look black in some pictures but its really dark purple
Its very hard, has sharp edges,

Welcome to the forum!

If your specimen can't be scratched by a knife, then it is probably quartz.  Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz.
