What is the best material for armour?

Super bainite's strength means it might make an excellent armour - but punching holes in it might make it even better...

Interesting idea about controlling the tearing of the armour.  However, I might rather be struck by a sharp bullet in a straight path, rather than a tumbling bullet that can cause a lot of damage.
