Steve Thompson  asked the Naked Scientists:
Hi Chris and team

I have often wondered if what we are seeing with the universe speeding up was the rate of change in time was changing?

Today I heard another podcast talk about scientists discussing the same possibility but no mention was made of how you could measure it.

Obviously we see back in time with light from distant objects but my question is can we see anything in that signal that can tell us if time was ticking at a different rate in the past or because we a so tied to time is that impossible.

One possible measurement that springs to mind is the decay of a molecule from an excited state but I don't know if we can see that in a light signature from distant stars??

Thanks for the great show

What do you think?
