Making love makes weaker athletes
« on: 20/06/2006 23:49:20 »
Does ' doing the deed ' the night before a sporting event really inhibit the athletes energy  ?...after all...for some peeps, it's all over in a few minutes...and they fall asleep !...but then...a good hearty breakfast and some fruit juice the next day sorts it all out doesn't it ?

....seriously though....say someone has run a marathon...how long realistically would it be for them to return to their full vitality ?....

...I'm refering here to energy, not the wear and tear on a foot or a knee....

thanks

OOOH LALA, Neil, I think we are alone in here! Watch out I might bite!

I wouldn't call my husband an athelete, but he sure gets lazy after he's done the deed. No energy and just veges out!

I only wish hubby could experience same  repetitive enjoyment that I do![:I] Sometimes I think you men are really missing the boat, and then I think, no, I bet yours are more intense or something!:D Who knows, maybe if one were more atheletic it would be quite different all together.

Neil, I take it there are no athletes around to join in and answer your question the way you wanted it answered.:(

OH... Neil, are you Part Klingon, Friend?;) The temperature in this room just rose 60 degrees![:p] Did you eat your wheaties and drink your juice this morning Sir?:D:D HEHEHE!!! Maybe someone will come in and save us from ourselves before it is too late!!![}:)][}:)]

Hey, what was that? Why Sir, watch where you are putting your hands! :) You better be a good boy, I bet wifey can bite too!:D:D:D

I can't profess to be an athlete by any stretch of the imagination, but I certainly don't feel worn out the day after the deed - quite the opposite in fact - I find that the more excercise I do, the better I feel in general - the better I sleep, the more alert I feel, and the more energetic, so if I were team captain I'd be advocating that the boys head home for a dose of good lovin' from their ladies - but perhaps discourage all night marathons ;) and maybe discourage some of the more contorting postures from the Kama Sutra, cos I'd imagine a pulled hamstring wouldn't be all that helpful to a football/cricket player/athlete [:I]

Plus, I reckon that it must be good for players' general well being and moral.  Can you imagine going to home to a randy wifey only to have to tell her "sorry hunny, the captain says no bonking".  There are very few guys in my acquaintance who'd refuse an offer from their lady, and I'd imagine they'd be feeling pretty glum about it if they did - so in my opinion, do as Nike tell you - and just do it! :D

Given that the male is generally the active partner in the sexual act, it makes sense that the duration of the act would be controlled by the male.

It also makes sense that nature sets an automatic cut-off point, otherwise the human male might go the way of the male salmon, just keep on going until he finally dies of exhaustion.  Why would the male continue beyond the point of having deposited enough sperm to ensure fertilisation of the egg (it is not as if the human male has to fertilise thousands, or millions, of eggs at one time as the salmon male, or many insect males,  might try and do).

For some other animals, there are other advantages to the female.  Female elephants have several male partners, where the younger and more inexperienced males have their go first, then the older males come along and carefully scoop out the sperm from the preceding male (there penises are shaped to do that, and no doubt the stimulation for the female must be quite enjoyable) and substitutes his own sperm.  All of this presupposes that the female has more stamina than the male.

THANK YOU KAREN, KATHERINE & GEORGE,

I have to say , I kind of like a dominant female too !..and there are many ' acts ' that involve the girly doing all the work...and rightly so !
...but my main premise of this thread was really to differentiate between exercising the night before an event and having sex the night before.

I think perhaps the act of ' cumming ' must be particularly draining and perhaps one might apply a medical term that it could well be seen as a form of trauma.

Karen ...believe me...it would be great to experience  a multiple orgasm...but I wonder if a blokes heart could take the strain :D

..however..I am sure this is human physiology at work here...

The male need just empty his seed after a relatively short period of convulsions....perhaps the convulsive paroxysms that girlys have are the mechanics for drawing the ' mens milk :)' into the body.

Men are the same as women, just inside out !

Firstly, there are similarities and differences.

Certainly, beyond a certain point, intense exercise can trigger endorphin release, just as sex can (and some people can become addicted to exercise).  Since endorphins are supposed to have a similar effect to opiates, I would imagine that would have the same effect on reducing respiration, and as such reduce ones ability to take up oxygen.

I believe it is now regarded as not a good idea to have intense exercise just before an important event.  As I under stand it (and maybe someone can correct me), you should have lots of exercise in the time well before the event, in order to build up your stamina, and then take it relatively easy immediately before the event in order to conserve your strength for the event itself.  Very possibly, the same pattern might be applicable for exercise in bed as exercise on the field.

I think you are probably right George!

Neil I think your big heart could take the strain. I often wonder why  men could not experience multiple orgasms, or even continuous ones like many of us women do!  I know that sometimes it is multiple one then another, but there haave been times when I have been so sensitive that they would just peak and slow down then peak and slow down, never really stoping. Kind of like last parts of labor If you have had a potossin drip to increase and continue labor. One big pain instead of a regular contraction starting low and coming to a peak and slowly tappering down, but not ever stoping, then climbing back up to peak again and repeating this motion for many minutes. I have to say that is the best, but it does take alot out of you!

Orgasms are much like a labor pain in its climb , climax and its fall. With the exception that it is not painful. That is just how it seems to be as far as how it builds up......Karen

I am sure there is something to that ability of orgasims to draw in the awaiting sperm to fertilize the eggs.
