MASTERING SIXTH SENSE
« on: 26/12/2012 14:31:09 »
Sixth sense-voluntarily using brain with all of the five senses being non responsive to any external / internal stimulus. Thinking can be about new information / existing information stored in brain is known as sixth sense.
Let us take an example of deep sleep, all the five senses are non-responsive but voluntary thinking is not possible at this stage, then how can a human practice using sixth sense, let  us take an example of  two activities together-
Listening music + studying, when you are deeply involved in studying,  you do not listen to music, so only eyes and brain are used and brain is non-responsive to stimulus from ear. So stimulus music is blocked. Similarly by blocking stimulus from all the five senses viz eyes, ears, skin, nose and tongue but still continuing processing operations in brain, sixth sense can be used / practiced as described below in figure. Remember one should not sleep while non-responsive to stimulus from known five senses.

Stimulus---------EYES ----------------------- x
Stimulus---------EARS----------------------- x
Stimulus------------Skin---------------------x   BRAIN-------------PROCESSING---SIXTH SENSE
Stimulus---------NOSE---------------------- x                                     (voluntary)
Stimulus-------TONGUE-------------------- x
---- = NO RESPONSE    ---- = PROCESSING
                                            PROCESS OF USING SIXTH SENSE

Whatever it is you need a new name for it as there are more than five senses ...

Q "How many senses do you have? " - Qi - BBC
A "anything between nine and twenty one"

ok, instead of sixth sense, let us say it nosense, because we are using only brain (voluntarily) and blocking all other senses, not just five senses.

Stimulus---------EYES ----------------------- x

ok, instead of sixth sense, let us say it nosense ... blocking all other senses, not just five senses.

That's more like nonsense, e.g. if you could ignore your vestibular sense you would fall on the floor and be unable to get up.

You seem to be attempting to describe some sort of meditation ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meditation#Definitions_and_scope

Mr RD,
1. use your common sense, i did not asked anyone to block senses and walk, so that they fall on floor.
2. in meditation brain is not processing any information but in this (nosense), subject is required to process information voluntarily by brain with all senses blocked.
it is not nonsense but difficult to practice but once done, it will lead to speed and accuracy like supercomputers and even more.

... i did not asked anyone to block senses and walk, so that they fall on floor ...

Without your vestibular sense, standing would also be impossible and remaining in a chair unlikely.

So if you can manage to ignore your vestibular sense best do it in a well upholstered environment to prevent injury.

Removing stimuli (rather than somehow ignoring senses) has been tried to aid concentration ...
