Interesting ideas.  I would think several of the suggested topics might be a bit advanced for a 6 yr old, although, perhaps interesting to 14 yr olds.  I would also think that it would be difficult to write a journal that would be of interest to such a wide age range of students.

You don't mention illustrations.  At least the younger children are very visual, but even the older students will be keen on illustrations.

I looked at your website.  If you wish to solicit English speaking submissions (or other languages), it would be beneficial to translate all, or portions of your website into English (and other languages).  While many websites can autodetect the locale, it can be beneficial of adding a button such as a flag that switches to the desired language.

Thank you for your comments :)

You are right, the articles we want are not easy to write. According to our experience, there are kids who are interested in such kind of difficult topics. But you need explain the difficult thing on a way that the kids can understand.

We certainly will put illustration to the articles, but this is a forum for science, not for illustrators, right? :)

Up to now we only sell the magazines and books translated into Chinese, that's why we only have a website in Chinese. But we will think about your suggestion. Thank you

Often charts and diagrams accompany scientific literature, although if you are adding animals and such, a good illustrator is worthwhile.  But, again, that would depend on the target audience.

If the ultimate goal is Chinese literature, why not solicit Chinese authors?  Personally I'm not sure I would choose to invest a significant amount of time writing articles only to have them translated and only viewed in Chinese.  $250 per article sounds low.

Some topics are universal.

Things like food safety may well be different in each country.  For example, in the USA, "tap water" tends to be safe whether one is in the city with heavily filtered and treated water supplies, or in the country using well water.  In Egypt, one should just expect the tap water to cause GI issues.  I don't know about China.  Apparently Hepatitis A is in at least some of the Chinese water supplies.

I presume the Chinese tend to have a lot more rice in their diet, as well as different appliances such as rice cookers.  Leftovers?  Woks?

There are food scandals around the world including alcoholic beverages tainted with methanol.  The Chinese have been noted for the use of Melamine in both pet food and human food.

In the USA, I wouldn't think twice about purchasing milk, or other agricultural products.  In China?  I don't know.  If I was in a small town, I might actually be happy to know the farmer that was growing the livestock.

Not really food safety, but many westerners highly object to the idea of hunting a species for a single body part and discarding the rest of the carcass as is being done with shark fin soup.
