I fast forward quite a bit when watching tv recorded programmes - to avoid commercials - but am wonderng whether this puts a strain on my visual apparatus - wears out rod/cones etc.? Anyone know any studies on this?

I don't think it wouldn't affect the retina more than watching TV running at normal speed.

Only possible problem I can think of is that intently watching lots of Fast-Forward could cause eyestrain by increasing the amount of eye-movements when attempting to take-in this too-fast slideshow.
