A free-floating planet without a star to orbit has been found about 80 light years away...

This has been long predicted.  I'm glad that one has finally been found.

I wonder if a good many planets form in supernova debris.

How long will it take to cool it down?

How long will it take to cool it down?
Perhaps by the time you make the 80 lightyear journey, it will have dropped from a toasty 700C down to a rather chilly 600C.

Undoubtedly it will have a thick atmosphere, and will be warmer the deeper one goes into the atmosphere.

The "planet" described is brown dwarf  "6 times the mass of Jupiter". Brown dwarfs could be described as a "failed stars".
