Is nail polish good for wart removal?

christy asked the Naked Scientists:

I searched the internets about home remedies for wart removal and came across the nail polish method.

I had gotten a huge one at the end of this July and decided to try it. I noticed I could not find any step by step documentation of the process and did my own. It worked and it only took about 30 days. Gross topic I know, but I am stoked that it worked!

Excellent.

It sounds a bit like the salicylic acid compound that you can buy at the store which also takes about a month of repeated applications.  I find the salicylic acid does burn a little bit if it gets onto surrounding skin.  Perhaps the fingernail polish is less burning.

Some people have also used Duct Tape over the warts.
