Energy is just mass in a different state. Just like steam is water in a different state. Energy has many forms as its frequency alters and so does matter or mass. As energy (condenses) into matter it goes through various stages. A quark is simply a name given to a point along the road from energy to mass. Energy itself always remains as matter but cannot be percieved as such because the dynamics of the space time it creates around itself defies detection via the means we have to comprehend its presence or reality.
