LIQUID entering air vents meant to releaz air
« on: 20/08/2006 19:19:45 »
Hi ther ....

am trying to release controlled amount of air (bubbles) through a grid of vents at the bottom plate of a

tank filled with liquid .......was banking on serface tension to kee the thick liquid - silicon oil from

staying out of the perforations at the bottom about (.25mm)
turns out my niave ideas in physical chem were wrong ......

details and drawings are downloadable at.... newbielink:http://www.4shared.com/file/3153539/5f33ff0d/sos.html [nonactive]

the liquid is entering the vents at the tank bottom ......seem i need one of the following...

some seperation membrane to allow only air passage (air passage has to be uniform all over the grid)
OR
another liquid thicker than silicon oil under silicon oil ....not entering the 121 (.25mm) vents or

perforations
OR
Some special air liquid interfacing non return valve to let air thru but block returning liquidetc

anything anyone has to add....or detail in the above?.....

i would be extremely grateful for ANY kind of help or guidance ......these are urgent and desporate hours

do support......deadline only few daysa away...

cheers

Don't know if it would work, but you could try a ferromagnetic fluid.

please dont take me to task for brand dropping but from your discription perhaps a double membrane material like gore tex could be the answer as it is designed to let the passage of air through but stop water might be worth a try.

geaorge's idea seems practicable

lets keep trying the untried since the birth of science innovations have been like  toy but their impacts have rocked the world
