Why Do Roosters Crow At Dawn ?
« on: 04/06/2014 20:11:01 »
Dearest Science Peeps Of Klever Knowngness !

As a sheepy I of course know all there is to know about Roosters !...apart from just one thing though....

Take a look at Clarence:

Clarence At Some Silly Time This A.M.

Why Does Clarence Crow At Dawn ?

As a firm believer in empirical study I gathered a thousand Roosters just like Clarence and stuffed them in my neighbours bedroom at 3am this morning. My neighbour must have been thrilled to participate in this study because when I asked him if he objected he said absolutely nothing. The fact that I had to tie him down and gag him only corroborated his willing to help !...Oh...and he certainly did not protest to the the corn that I poured over him too !....So..came the dawn, the cacophony of happy joy that I heard from next door brought tears to my grateful eyes. When I questioned him later on this afternoon , my neighbour had nothing to report !!...How selfish !!...he just lay there bound and gagged and said nothing !!...sheesh !!...so ..no luck there then !

so...do ewe know why Roosters crow at dawn ?

If ewe know then let me know and then we'll both know !!...which is nice !

hugs et les shmisheys

Clarence is announcing and reminding his assembled harem that he is the boss and warning other cocks to keep their hands wings off his property.

As to tour neighbour's reluctance to share his gained information with you, I suggest you tell him to keep his pecker up.

To be honest..I think hes Greeting the sun with
a very cocky and boastful Good morning all..and
crowing to the world that hes been laid..and is
about to strut his stuff among all the Hens...
Still laying lazily upon the straw strewn love nests,
in the after-glow of  his nightly carousing!..Obviously
He fared better then his fellow Cocks therefore he
was doing the morning salute and feeling the full
rush of his testosterone driven libido! lol...lol..

"What a day for a day dream....Doo wah.....ah...
I've been having a sweet dream....dreaming....
bout my bundle of joy... It's starring me in my sweet
dream ..cause shes the one makes me feel that way
What do ya say.. about the dues that I've got....I'm
gonna take a walk outside.....and fall on my face in
someones new mowed lawn"....la-di..da di-di....
da-da.... da-di..da-di.da da da dah....."

It seems to me that roosters tend to crow all day long.

However, they sleep at night.  So, one would expect the roosters to break the silence of the night with their first morning crowing (or not so silent crickets and frogs).

And, for those people who wake up a bit after the crack of dawn, they are still crowing in the morning as they are still announcing their presence.

I tend to just tune their racket out.

As far as why crow?  Perhaps a mating ritual.  Could that possibly be the first thing on their mind when they wake up in the morning?  Just imagine if there were chicken college fraternities!!!!

Lol......like every rooster I have ever met....I do believe they follow suit, and like most males...the rising of the sun is just the start of several risings in the morning that are always the foremost thought, first thing in the mornings!!!   hee hee hee...
